Ignore Update (Poll)
#1
So the poll to use Ignore or Keep Chat Above Heads was pretty neck and neck.

I've done some work on the ignore plugin anyway and still havent been able to fix it, but I have enabled Combat Text to act as chat above heads and installed the ignore plugin so people can test it out and see what they think.

I will hold another poll in a couple days when people have tested it out...

I've also installed some minor updates to some plugins to show more information with minigame lobbys and some other stuff.

Having it like this will also allow you to use item tags in your rank prefix and suffix.

Panther why don't we have permission to ignore other players if its to be tested ?

It's being tested because there might be glitches and bugs. Just wait for the result.

Could you increase the character limit of prefix to 25 please?

I know that people wouldnt use 20 character but the way the item codes work mean its 16 characters just to add 2 items

Great job! I think the splash text was a good compromise between above head text and /ignore. On the other hand, I do not care for the new VIP suffixes whatsoever. They just look out of place.

At one point I'm not really happy with the current chat settings (although, I really do love the prefixes.

I'll describe the 3 biggest points I'm talking about:
- One is that the visual text above the heads is gone very, very fast. I hardly get a second to read it. Combine this with very long texts, you find yourself in more a hassle than you've been before.
- Two is that the text adapts the colour of your name. Now okay, in some occasions this isn't a problem, but fact is that a moderate amount of VIP players sometimes like to take a really dark or bright colour. With the new chat plugin, this causes not only the chatbox message, but now also the overhead text to become impossible to read.
- Three is that the chat's location is extremely dependant of network sensitivity, and the player's movement. I've been only here for half an hour to test it, and I'm already noticing that a lot of texts are quite far off where the person is standing. Either because they were moving, or because the server didn't register the talking person was elsewhere yet.

The prefixes however are really great to have (especially knowing me), though the icons for the ranks seem a bit... out of place. Maybe that's just getting used to it, and I think we all can relate to that little thing.

In any way, I'm really delighted to see that you're browsing through all options first before making a decision Smile.

Edit: It also seems that icons from items, or chat colour commands, do not appear. Instead the raw® code displays, which will create a MASSIVE line when doing it with lots of items.

For me, I would like to keep chat like this and remove ignore.

1st, Yes its gone fast. But I have fast reading skills. If I didn't able to read them I will look in chat. Unlike those white ones before, they last longer, smaller. But just because its longer, its usually making me hard to find something in chat.

2nd, for me, I don't know is it a glitch, its all green, same as my chat colour.

3rd, People wont type stuff when they are transporting, wont they??

Be awesome

@Enchanted

1 - That's precisely the point. Not everyone is a fast reader, and I'm honestly surprised you can fully read a full sentence in less than a second. Server features should work for a catch-all group, so also people who aren't as fast in reading. The point isn't where you should ánd overheads, ánd normal chat to see what a one message means. If overhead chat lasts for so unreliably long, it's as good as redunant. Overhead chats has the perk for easy communication when you're nearby; you can easily see who says what without relying on constantly looking at names.

2 - All overhead chats have the colour of that person's rank. (where VIP's have custom prefixes.) Mine was orange, because of my VIP-colour, and literally everyone else I see has different colours; exactly the same as their rank. If all your chat is green, maybe you altered some settings, I'm not sure.

3 - You can be quite wrong though. You can always type while moving, because you don't suddenly "stop" moving. Fade-out movement, but you can also be falling, riding a cart, gliding, etc etc. And on top of that, you need to constantly rely on the server because your chat is no longer tied to your character, it's tied to the x and y pos of where the server THINKS your character was at that point (which, in some occassions, can be very far off.)
