Home plots: Too many and too large.
#1
So inevitably everyone has been experiencing this in their time: A lot of structures of which some are tremendously huge, more space than even a team of builders ever would use.

Last time in the current world, I have seen an INCREDIBLY huge, empty square, blocking all surface traffic from Spawn to West [with exception of the /warp west, of course]. This square was created on the first day, and 4 days in it hasn't change.

Though while that small rant isn't simply about the square, it is just about the fact that anyone can create an endlessly huge square of unbreakable private space, without even using it, and even all regulair first-timers can create this.

So what I would like to suggest, is that both the amounts of private spaces, and the maximum size of private spaces will be limited, dependant on your rank. For example:
Rank 1 - 24, max 2 plots, maximum size is 25x25, giving a total of 1250 of private space. Four times more than you would ever need for a basic first-settlement.
Rank 25 - 49, max 3 plots, maximum size is 50x50, giving you a total of 7500 blocks of private space.
Rank 50 - 74, max 4 plots, maximum size is 75x75, giving you a total of 22.500 blocks.
Rank 75 - 99, max 5 plots, maximum size is 100x100, givin you a total of 50.000 blocks.
Rank 100, gives you one extra plot, but retains the maximum size of 100x100.
VIP rank will give you even two more plots next to your current rank.

Profits:
- The map will be possible to be preserved longer, as it won't get stashed incredibly large with buildings. This also means a potential longer existance time for each map, and less agitation for those who may or may not be aware of map resets.
- More people will be able to build where they desire to build their structures.
- Loyalty to the server will be more rewarded. The people staying longer will be rewarded bigger building space.
- First-timers won't be able to reserve an incredibly huge space they won't even use.

Other notes:
- Since the latest map resets, players are no longer requested, expected or recommended to preserve the oceans, as these are being preserved by default upon map creations.
- You are still able to create grand builds, as you can get to 25+ within only one or two votes.
- A true terrarian wouldn't need more than 4 plots: One actual home, one farm, one mob arena and one artwork piece.

Yes thats true the first day of this map it was filled with claims and its hard to find houses

It's even worse if you have a spinal injury like me (my setup makes it hard to jump over things.) and are just looking for a place you can get underground through, nevermind a full-fledged home. imho, large claims should be limited to the space layer.

there is plenty of room underground Tongue

but this is why i do map resets once a month.

I may be one at fault to this offence but I agree on Knuffle's remark, I have noticed that this plot can be exploited by a few in which they can build barren boxes leaving a few unable to do anything to it.

There should be a Plot to level relationship, just like what the OP suggested as this will prevent people from taking too much spaces and as well preserve the world even further.
The circumstances of one's birth are irrelevant, it is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are. . .

Agreeably, but less reserved/built-on land will mean less need for frequent resets Tongue More time to manage important things, gives players enough breathing space without being enclosed by ridicilliously large plots, and less agitation for having lost their work Tongue

Perhaps I would do well to screenrecord a typical session of me trying to find a place on the server. I will post it in this thread if I decide to do that.
