Do you happen to use a different computer than you do at your apartment? If you do, that is probably what was mistaken for a proxy.

Banning works in one of two ways; by banning an account, or banning a computer. When your account gets banned, you can no longer use that account on the server for the time of the ban. When your computer (IP) gets banned, it completely blocks you from joining on that computer.
