Toke's Item Chest
#1
-Ok so Toketsu decided it would be a great idea to try and make a thing where he made this warp where new people could go to where he placed items in a chest for anyone to take and it is first come first serve, he plans on putting in new items every day.
I'm here to try and Weigh out the pros and the cons of the idea. As well as to ask your opinions on it, in my personal opinion it is a bad idea, here is why.

-Cons

1. This is an SSC server, for those who don't know what SSC means it's Server Side Character, and as most of you know it creates a new inventory for you on the server, while your old inventory stays on your single player. For someone to introduce what essentially is a Free items chest into an SSC server is what I call putting up a middle finger to those who either killed mobs for SS, took items they Collected to try and make a profit. Basically anyone that put time and Effort to receive what they got today.

2. What happens when this gets integrated, and people aren't satisfied with "1 time a day" or the same guy gets getting there before anyone else and empties the chest of all it's goodies. People will start to complain and Toke will eventually get flooded with all these complaints and so forth, not to mention hes doing this every day. Also I don't believe people will just give Toke items for Newbies just so they get items for free, out of the kindness of others.

-Pros

1. People get items and they can be happy. That's the only thing I can see coming from this. So yea.

-I ask those who see this to show more cons or pros, maybe I missed something. Maybe I'm the only one who thinks this is a bad idea, but I would appreciate feedback whether it is Positive or Negative.

Quill.

Edit: Some peoples wanna do a poll so I'll impairment one later at home.

Another thing I would Like to point out is that we can't justify If the new players get any of the moonlord's items, either Via hacking or If they actually got it from the chest, as well as hackers using the warp as an excuse for them hacking in the Items, especially with an "attack" on the server yesterday. If there is some kind of regulation to it, (such as something like a crate) I would approve of the chest, as the items these crates present A considerable amount of goods to the player. As of right now, I say this is more harm than good

I agree with everything you said. This is a survival based server(I guess?) so giving out free stuff would kill all the fun, but I consider this to be my minor reason. I disagree mainly because the newbies already receive a full hellstone set as soon as they register, and in my opinion, that's enough to advance in the server. When you start on hardmode, you're pretty much with these same items so it isn't unfair at all.

-I appreciate the support, and I'm glad to hear i'm not the only one that thinks that it isn't such a good idea.

First, i never said it was a "great idea", you're making up things. Second, i never asked anyone to put items in, they put because they wanted, and i'm considering closing the chest once the contents are gone. Third, winky failed to understand that i'm not going to do moon lord items.
Fourth, since i'll only open it whenever i feel like during each day, it's very unlikely that a certain player will get it everyday.
Fifth, they aren't forced to go there and take the items. If they do, that's their problem. And you also can't complain about me giving out free things when i'm the one providing them.

Lastly, you just seem too salty. No idea what happened to you in the past, but someone probably denied you free items and now you're getting worked up about this.

You like the idea? Good. You don't like it? Too bad, nothing i can do for you.

If ever this idea gets put through, I'd like to donate some items.

I feel like this would make a good poll topic.

I will now mention a subset of items that would shatter the cons above, wait for it...

Building blocks.

Yes, even the Fragment Blocks and Luminite Bricks variety. They are either cheap or overpriced, and the large portion of them can be acquired for free by the crafters. They are harmless, unable to be converted back to their raw, menacing counterparts.

I give out building blocks everyday and would do so any other day. I like it when new people show an interest in building creative structures, it makes PTS a more beautiful place. I cannot let myself see them do so with dirt and stone (and of course, the overused, aesthetically disastrous Rainbow Bricks and Gemsparks)

It seems the cons are heavier than the pros on the poll scale (though it's not there). I'll be voting No (though the poll is not there). As Brendan said, a starter kit is granted to newly registered players and it is enough to start your journey. Additionally, it can cause disruption and jealousy. But, Toketsu can do whatever he wants with his items (in this case).

And about Rini's suggestion

This is a great idea as it encourages the concept of construction and adds to scenic beauty of the Server. This has been suggested to @Panther and he has kept the task at a lower priority than the rest (could be reinforced by adding more variety) But, on the other hand, to be honest, wouldn't it deplete the significance of the Crafter rank?

Wubwub!
