Question for staff members
#1
Hey guys, when I see the player reports every moderator just says "Definitely hacks, I will ban him when he gets on" why can't you guys ban him when the hackers are offline? In minecraft they record every player that joined the game and just can make an easy ban and does not matter that they are offline or online.
And sometimes IP bans are not fair. I suggest steam account bans instead of IP bans. Not much people can afford 2 steam accounts with terraria (I got 2 minecraft accounts :P) and when friends come to your house and play pts they will be just like "WTH DUDE I AM BANNED FOR HACKING"
lolicons should perish??? idk why tho

Well, normal & senior Staff members can only ban a person when they are present.
Banning steam accounts from PTS is a little stretch(I'm not even sure that's possible), IP Bans are the way to go atm. If for eg: your brother/sister plays on PTS as well, and you get IP banned from PTS, you're the one who has to deal with the consequences, not just from being banned, but from your siblings... if you know what mean.

Just remember, Minecraft Servers are way different from Terraria Servers.

@Enchanted__ First we can't ban the ones who are offline, because we don't have a command for it. Second, this isn't minecraft. Third, we don't do steam account bans, because we can't tell Valve to ban their account for hacking in a single game called Terraria, especially if the hacker has so many expensive games and he will be banned in steam just by hacking in terraria and he doesn't hack in other games, well we can't pay for the games that he lost just by hacking in terraria and getting banned in steam. Terraria doesn't control steam dude, it's the other way around. Lastly we can permban them if they don't stop hacking.

Znarf out.

Franz, Vivid, I think you guys understand my question wrong. Why can't you guys do like what minecraft did? And you can vote through steam (I have never tried it though) then it should be like usingg the same technology for banning people! And for sure if the hackers have siblings playing on PTS how are they supposed to deal with them?

Btw Franz your signiture looks cool

Sorry to say, but I have no knowledge of a plugin that bans players, even if they are offline. Also, do not confuse Terraria with Minecraft as they are different games with different server platforms, like we have TShock. And it would cause grave problems if Valve banned users on steam, and we have no authority to do that as well. Although, I would agree with the development of such a plugin, but there's nothing we can do as of yet.

And yes, how to deal with your siblings? Simple, get scowled by them so that you won't do it again. And if you wish to be unbanned, make an unban appeal. This once happened to me on another server.
