I know a lot of people farm bosses and monsters, for items to sell or to use. A lot of our "veteran" members normally have a lot of items. Plus, chests are not that big if you think about it, and Redigit even made them bigger when 1.2 came. Now, I can understand only 2-3 chests, because you can store more of your best and expensive items. It then won't be an issue having to sacrifice some of your best gear to the reset.
Also panther i have a suggestion to combat ip changing hackers, if you could create such a thing that permanent bans would delete the character itself apart from banning The IP, the hackers would be dissuaded since they will have to spawn stuff again and again which will be more work than they bargained for hence since mathematically
work of senior mod < work of hacker
the hackers will be dissuaded easily since they would know that they will be reset and that coming back they would have to again type the commands tediously!
(i am assuming hackers use commands and not some easy click to get graphic interface)
tell me if it makes any sense.
However, I'm primarily looking towards shop owners / collectors, the people who slave away to amass large quantities of expensive items. Putting all of that time and effort into getting those items, just to have them erased, would be a pain. Plus, more room is good. You wouldn't believe how many chests I go through when going through single-player runs. Minecraft is the same way, I spend more wood on chests than I do anything else.
Now, on the hacker topic; in general, I think this is a good idea. However, all of us here can agree that we make mistakes. If somebody got perma-banned by mistake, or for having picked up a hacked item and not known, it would be terrible for their character to be deleted.
